It’s a genocide. If you disagree, you can (and probably should) fuck off. I’ve kicked people’s asses over less.1
But it’s more than just a genocide; I’ve known that for a while, but it’s taken me a shockingly long time to realize why. The answer is of a format that always slaps me in the face, because it should have been obvious:
‘Israel’ is and has been actively participating in the commodification of Palestinian deaths, as well as lives and land, in the name of ethnically cleansing the entirety of Palestine, for profit. The Zionist entity is committing a genocide, and they’re being paid to do so.
We knew they’ve been testing military technology on Palestinians, and selling the results. We knew they’ve always wanted the land, the resources. And we knew that, the longer they sell the myth of a noble ‘Israel’, the more bombs, bullets, tanks, warplanes, mercenaries, training, and funding they get from the Imperial Core.
I’d even say I understood that Palestinians are under active exploitation while they are alive. Even in the mutual aid aspect, a good chunk of the money sent to Palestinian families from efforts in my area likely went directly into an ‘Israeli’ pocket. We knew about that, too.
I personally just never put it together: the Palestinian knows no peace, because even after their death, their oppressor makes material gain from their exploitation. It goes beyond killing for the sake of killing,2 beyond killing for the sake of a collective identity;3 ‘Israel’ has simply found a variety of ways to murder Palestinians, and get paid insane amounts of money to do so.
Marx discussed how everything becomes commodified under capitalism. Every once in a while, I have an “oh shit” moment, and I realize again that, yeah, it really includes every single material (and plenty immaterial) thing you can think of. Our mental health is commodified. Our attention is commodified. Our students, our homeless, our migrants of all methods, are commodified. It. Is. All. About. Capital.
It is in this that I find an example of the unique evils of capitalists. They bastardize their human creative engines, using their minds to come up with more and more useless and obscure products. But they do more than that. They come up with new ways to exploit us, and sure, they utilize the butterflies and rainbows first — slightly higher rent, bills, and fees, less accessible care, and worse infrastructure. But when the Imperial Boomerang comes back around, the capitalist turns to darker stuff. We see it everywhere these days.
So it’s really not a question of why ‘Israel’ is doing what it’s doing. It’s a question of why they’re being allowed to continue. If I had half an ounce of balls, that’s where I’d be, but instead I’m here, pontificating about how evil they are while they keep doing the evil. As a man of action, this contradiction is slowly destroying me.
Some heavy inspiration for this post came from an excellent recent polemic by Your Friendly Neighborhood Philosopher,4 in which they discuss whether or not Trump has dementia, he’s fine, or it’s something worse. Turns out it’s probably brain damage. Go figure.
It’s a fact that I don’t think the masses would jive with, because we like to hurl insults at each other (and all too rarely, at our enemy). I’ve got a bit of a crazy story (believe me if you want to, but it’s true): last week I was very close to entering a knife fight, and it was only because it was broken up — after we were only two yards apart — that we both aren’t likely very injured. It wasn’t a fluke, it was with a family member that’s been having a lot of issues (especially with me), and they’re receiving the mental health treatment they need now.
BUT, my point is, when I was getting ready to defend myself, I inexplicably and uncharacteristically found that I was screaming the most vulgar insults I could think of at the top of my lungs. Unfortunately, this person is abusive, and not just to me, but to people I really care about. Being insulting is often part of struggle for human beings, and struggle is always part of standing up for what’s right. . .
. . . and, we can’t rely on insults to win a damn knife fight. We need to be clear in our assessment of our enemy, or we are bound to lose. It’s a bit of a dialectic.
Along the same vein, I find myself disgustingly unable to say that ‘Israel’ is ‘insane’. I can’t say that they’re ‘out of their minds’. I can’t even say they’re ‘stupid’.
They’re just fucking capitalists. And a hanging could never be enough.
Now’s a great time to mention something that’s been weighing on me: I’m really not much of a writer! I only started this newsletter because I needed to fill the void in praxis left after leaving my political party. Speaking of that party, didn’t I do a lot of writing for them? Yes, I did, but I also did a lot MORE firearm training, tactics and strategy, and field work. My ground state is with my stupid mouth closed, and this essay is a good example of why that’s true. Sorry-not-sorry.
A common assertion is that ‘Israel’s actions are ‘psychopathic’.
Another common claim is that ‘Israel’ is a ‘fascist state’. This is certainly true of the Zionist ideology at large, and I’d agree that the oppressors fit the bill, but we need to go deeper to find the whole truth. It’s true, but there’s more.
You should subscribe to them, especially if you like reading snazzy footnotes.
It. Is. All. About. Capital. I have these "oh shit" moments constantly too. Sigh.
Amazing work here!
